In 1986 the Texas State Historical Association sponsored a conference concerning inclusion of women in the forthcoming revised Texas Handbook. At that meeting women from Austin got together and formed a local network of Austin professional women to support one another and to keep a finger on the pulse of women's history in Texas and how it is presented to the public.
